I’ll give you a few more hints…all these homes were in the same town…
within the same early morning, stalkerazzi, “canvas the neighborhood with a
camera” morning. Pulling back a bit from the rose bowered entry I showed a
few days ago, the gates seem a little less Provence, n’est-ce pas?
And yet…how French is this???
Oeil- de- boeuf…three chimneys…slate roof…
bathed in the early morning sunshine…
Before they were made into mirrors…
and sold at Restoration Hardware…
they were set into deeply sloped French roof lines…
On the other side of the circular driveway…
a loftily roofed, dormered three car garage….
Above the cobbled pavement, beyond the clipped formal
hedges…a circular private forest of oak trees…
Where do you imagine these homes abide?
Homes set far apart and often behind these soft narrow country lanes…
Lush greenery and towering trees and flowering vines overtaking
gateposts in early April….
Surely you know by now?
A slightly more famous neighbor…
Who would do a gatepost like this?
I’ll divulge the place…
and my co-stalkerazzi tomorrow.
Can anyone name this town?
Update: these are the homes of several residents of Montecito, Santa Barbara County
Taken via walking tour with Jermaine of French Kissed…only the last resident is known
John Saladino, whose glorious estate is best viewed through his book Villa…from
which his sketch of his front gates is taken…
