Happy weekend all! On a little prodding from me, Wendy Lewis from The Textile Trunk gave me a glimpse into her personal collection of textiles…the ones she squirrels away in cupboards and wardrobes and trunks…and cannot bear to cut or part with. Love that antique hatbox and the mix of old rouge and a mishmash of blues.
More ruddy colors , what wanton tassels! It all looks so artfully perfect all tossed together….
The soft blues and deep indigos…
A beautiful antique wallpaper covered box…my latest obsession…and all the wonderfully soft tones and textures of antique linen…
All photos taken by Wendy at her “new” c. 1810 home (built on the foundation of an earlier 18th century home). I’ve been peeking around the edges of her Ebay listing photos for months to note the wide floor boards, the aged whites, the lovely wainscoting…
Gratuitous close up…I’m “in love” with this c 1850 chitz…and these birds!!!
Noticed Wendy is selling small collected bits for cutting projects. I love this idea….perfect for those of us that have a hard time cutting into a big piece. The batch above just sold, but there’s another one left and perhaps Wendy will add more. Great idea!
Lastly, when Wendy send me a photo of her just done bathroom I begged her to let me share a few photos. Amidst all the holiday rush…I just love the sanctuary of this bath. A lovely, simple window treatment (uncut…for those of us who can’t bear getting the scissors out!). Per Wendy: “The bathroom had only the small south facing window and I just knew that a window on the west facing side could be glorious , as it faces the Adirondack mountains.” A friend unearthed a perfect architectural salvage window from the back of his shop…et violà! Perfection!
Can you imagine a morning in this bath!
Serenity! Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!
Such beauty in the fabric and the print of these textiles!
Beautiful post.
Trinidad
Nice seeing you this morning, Trinidad! Hope you can catch up on some sleep!
Ahhh…Trish, we can always count on you for a great textile fix.
I treasure everyone of your posts.

Thank you Miranda! If I can just get Christmas on a roll I can start goofing off on my blog a bit more! The end of the year crunch!
I love Wendy’s textiles–I have purchased a few and they are wonderful!! Her house is gorgeous, too. Thanks for allowing me to snoop. Mary
I am so happy when one of your posts pops up on the screen!
Love all the pics — the last one, however, is simply peaceful and perfect.
All the best, Rebecca
Goodness Trish, what treasure, and how wonderful of her to let you show these pictures. Of course she keeps the best bits for herself, how couldn’t she?! Her ebay store is outstanding, and a reference for anyone interested in old textiles.
warm wishes
Sharon

Antique linen has such a wonderful look and feel….love it.
Trish,
Wendy’s fabrics are so lovely. The blues and white and reds, oh my, where to begin. Her home is so pretty and inviting, the little we were privileged to see. Does she visit France often to buy or is she able to buy via the internet?
Thanks for sharing. I really must save my pennies for a bit of fabric for a wonderful pillow.
Karen
Hi Karen. Wendy used in live in the UK, hop over the channel to ferret out treasure in France. A hard habit to break, I imagine! So…she does go on several buying trips a year. Quelle dommage! I’ll be adding a few more textile resources the next few days to give you more ideas!
Such gorgeous textiles…and I can imagine both a morning and evening in that bath…AHHHHH. XO, Mona

Why oh why did it take me so long to click over from the link on French Essence? Especially when I see a mention of my friend Debra and a photo of my hometown of Arles in the sidebar on my first visti! Needless to say I am now a subscriber and am really looking forward to future posts…
Have a great day!
