Three turkeys later, yams, pumpkin pie, glistening cranberries…I’m day-dreaming golden, rich colors…and love them countered with teals and aqua. Ever entranced with the loops of antique French toile pelmets…love them dancing atop this bed. The Paris apartment of Amalia de Klemm as photographed by Guillame de Laubier in the January 2003 issue of World of Interiors.
Imagining the holidays served up on platters…here an almost edible, jewel clutched 18th century shoe…
Paper covered 18th century boxes for treasure…
A softly textured world of old paint and time worn textiles. I live in a very neutral environment…ivory, creams, soft grays. I suppose that’s why I am so drawn to antique textiles. Each piece is a jewel…a unique composition of beautiful, rich colors, careful details. A pillow, a drape of silk brocade over the armoir door, collected ribbons and treasured finds…perfect to inject into my cautious little world. Some of my favorite textile links to drool over:
The Textile Trunk here (surely everyone knows Wendy Lewis!)
Orelliers here (top of the line gorgeousness from our very own Debra from Acquired Objects)
Katherine Poole here (a UK vendor)
Cora Ginsburg here (I love flipping through her fabulous catalogues compiled since 2002)
All great inspiration for beautiful color combinations…and a bit of a design history lesson…
And if you’re wondering about the three turkeys…we visited both sides of the family on Thanksgiving, and after several years of complaints that we didn’t have leftovers to gnaw on for days later, I baked our own. Both kids were home for the holiday. Lots of driving. And cooking. Exhausting and wonderful. And now I need to come up with a week’s worth of turkey recipes…give me your tips!
Always love your posts…Hope you are enjoying the holidays…
A wonderful display! My new love is Delectable Mountain Cloth in Brattleboro, VT.

In a similar vein.
My favorite turkey thing right now is turkey salad with a few dried cranberries or red grapes thrown in…
Thanks for the eye candy!
Love the paper covered boxes…
These photos of Amalia’s Parisian apartment have always been at the top of my list of favorite images…I still remember buying this issue of WOI at the bookstore. I grabbed it off the stand and practically ran to the register to pay for it! 😉 I’ve been looking online for these images to pin to my Pinterest boards and couldn’t find them…now I can. Thanks Trish!!
Trish,
While the antique fabric is out of my budget the images of the apartment and beautifully worn chairs and fabrics were so delightful. I love the paper boxes AND the new look of your site…very nice!
Glad you had a fun, all family encompassing, Thanksgiving. Onward and upward, right. Yikes, Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat. 🙂

Love, love theses warm wonderful colors. Will never tire of them. XO, Mona
I just returned from a shopping trip with bag filled with crafting supplies in the very same colors as your first picture. Thank you, the photographs are beautiful!
Delicious colours Trish, thankyou for the 18th century tour – right up my street

A feast for the eyes and so uplifting! A wonderful post again!
Thank you for the info about Cora Ginsburg, very interesting and educating.
If we have leftovers from turkey or duck I make a Chinese or kind of Asian dish, it always works….

Oh Trish, that little vignette on the table, the shoes, the urn with the soft roses….Oh my!! What a sight for me this morning, just returning from sunny Florida. Must jump right in to high gear to prep myself for the holidays!! Hope all my American friends had a wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving. We have so much to be grateful for.

Oh wonderful images
Lovely eye candy! As for turkey: turkey mexican salad and turkey sandwiches with cranberry chutney…and anything anyone else wants to cook AND clean up after themselves. Jaded, I know. Hope your holidays were splendid!
Beautiful, beautiful photographs… and your Thanksgiving does sound wonderful…. There can never be too much turkey… xv
There is something about that rich color palette and beautiful textiles that is so very sensuous. One can almost feel the fabrics by just viewing a picture. Somehow they almost embrace us in the depth of their beauty. Gorgeous post, as always.
Fabulous…as always!!
Treasured fabrics are like special jewels that beg to be touched and treasured. Simply beautiful.
