Summer is starting to sizzle…
There are about forty-fifty lavender plants
on the new hillside in front of a young olive tree…
backed at intervals by cypresses and white roses…
Not yet a year old (last year here)…
Nicotiana…waiting to be planted…an annual that lends
a sweet scent and soft glow to a summer evening…
I have this in a lime green in the lower garden…more info here
Made my own case for my Ipad 2…
Not the work horse of my office computer…but
great for looking at blogs and reading the news
shoulder to shoulder with my husband.
I especially love how easily I can flip through my blog
archives on it…at this time unique to WordPress blogs…
more here.
Still finding big and little gems…
even when I’m not trying…
(or trying NOT to!)
As much as I love the hunt..
the find…I also enjoy pulling
together the bits and pieces of what
I already have…
Until something special pops up…
like this 18th century piece of French silk brocade…
via Carolyn Forbes…here
She has another gorgeous 18th century piece on Ebay here
Hiking the hills and hitting the Farmer’s markets…
Keeping up with hats and suncreen…
Love these tips at Eating Well here
Will stop in from time to time to send postcards
from my Summer blogvacation.
Hope you are having a wonderful Summer!
XOXO

The lavender hillside you planted is coming in nicely. The fabrics and small gems are priceless, love the close-ups showing the stunning details.

Dear Trish,
Finally, summer arrived at your place!
So good to ‘hear’ from you with another wonderful post! Your lavender is doing very well, your finds are beautiful, lovely buttons, and the ‘ipad-case’ – just stunning! I love it!
Merci beaucoup for these delightful images!
Best wishes, my dear friend, for – hopefully – a longlasting and sunny summer! Enjoy it!
Heartily greetings from Perigord,
Karin
Oh WOW Trish, just absolutely gorgeous post, inspiring images as always..LOVE your ipad case and all your trouvaille. which lavender is it that you planted? – we are expecting snow on the mountains tonight, but never the less that allows me to stay indoors and declutter, organise and discover forgotten finds..
much love x Colette ~ Afrique du Sud
Your lavender has really taken off this year it’s gorgeous Trish and you should be so proud of yourself. Your ipad case came out so well too. So what are you going to make with your brocade? Carolyn always has wonderful things. I hope you’re enjoying your summer and from the looks of it you are!
Hugs Debra,
I meant to make it into several pillows…but right now it kills me to think of cutting it! Don’t know how you do it with your gorgeous fabrics, Debra!
Hi Trish!
Nice to see you are happy and healthy with much beauty surrounding you.
I always feel grounded after visiting you!
Just lovely, Trish. My three little lavender plants hope to grow up big and strong like yours, with that rich, deep color. Love your Ipad envelope. It reminds us that even technology can be made beautiful…or hidden until needed. Just bought a new sewing machine, and as soon as I figure out how to work it (!) I’ll try my hand at making a little case.
Like Ann above, I’ve missed your blog and so happy to see you back. Your lovely posts always start my day off right!

Beautiful post, Trish!
Love the lavender and other beautiful flowers.
I am impress with your creations, especially the iPad case. Love the buttons too.
Have a nice blogcation.

Hi Trish
Love your garden, love your ipad case and love the old French script letter. Hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend
Sharon
Trish, you simply have the magic touch with a garden. I cannot believe the growth from last year…just splendid. And, your Ipad case is awesome. You could sell those!! Summer here in Texas is hotter than normal, which makes going outside impossible. The only other alternative is to go out of town, like Seattle or a cruise to Alaska. xx’s
I want that computer cover. Its so gorgeous. Especially cos I love those fabrics. I should just up and do one like you! Fiona
It has some quilting fabric sandwiched in for extra cushioning. I meant it to be temporary until I fell in love with another cover…but it works perfectly for the way I use it.
Love this post as always. I wondered if the picture of the 18th-century house in Surrey is of Clandon Park? I was there recently, and it is situated in the lovely Surrey hills.
Best, Cynthia.
Hi Cynthia…the full etching is inscribed “Botleys, the seat of Robert Gosling, esq by whom the plate was presented”. It looks very similar but I believe they are different residences.
Always delightful..love the lavender..and, and, and ! Have fun..
I want your life. It’s all about choices. Posts like this are making me wonder if I am making the right ones. I love the glimpses into the addition of your garden and your fabulous new “old ” finds. Your a gem. Mona
Hi Mona. My 19 and 22 year old kids are home this (one last?) summer, it’ll soon be my husband and my 25th anniversary. Its making me a bit nostalgic…trying to slow down to appreciate every moment!
Thanks for stopping by with an update–it sounds like a wonderful, carefree holiday–love the French textile.
Have fun. Mary
Trish,
You set such a good example of balance in life. I love the lavender and especially love the iPad cover. I don’t have an iPad yet but I forwarded your link along to hubby since he has a blog site on WordPress as well, I know he’ll appreciate the information. I’ll look forward to more inspiration in the fall.
Karen
Bellissime immagini, i bottoni sono stupendi!!!
I am so…impatient for my new lavender plants to get going! We moved last winter, so everything in the garden is new…and small! How reassuring to see your plants from one year ago: thanks for the encouragement!!!
Love summer, lavender and roses, thank you for the incredible pictures. I have english and spanish lavender, they are struggling but alive, can’t wait for my first harvest of lavender. Have a fantastic day!

Oh Trish, well worth the wait for this lovely, lovely post. The lavender hill must be intoxicating, and the little snippets of fabric treasures, beautiful!! Where in the world did you find those crown buttons?? Perfect touch for handmade treasures. Have a wonderful summer. N. xoxo
Ces petites pochettes avec des anciens boutons sont magnifiques ! C’est beaucoup plus beau que tout ce qu’on trouve dans le commerce, et unique !
have a nice day,
Céline.
Dear Trish, I love so much lavender , love the smell , love the color and I love to see it because it means summer is here. I thought about you these last days as I found some beautiful antique textiles and others things
When I think of you, I always think of lavender (and our shared love of Bella Notte). I can’t believe you made that iPad case! Love the button!
Xo,
Linsey
Glad to know you are alive and well. The lavender hill is looking lovely and the fence looks “aged”. All good. Here in the heartland it’s predicted we’ll break 100 this week. The humidity makes this place not for sissies. Thinking of you as today as I am ripping out two ‘Better Times’ peonies that were too light pink and too floppy. Am replacing them with lidded urns. No back talk. No staking. No mess. These days I’m listening to Thoreau: simplify, simplify, simplify. Enjoy those young ones while you may. And a big bouquet for the 25 years years with your beloved.
Trish,
I love your lavander….I planted some but it is not blooming yet. Supposedly the variety I got grows in the south. One of my favorite natural scents (not fond of the synthetics). Come play ‘words with friends’ on your ipad2 with me. Download the APP, it is basically online scrabble. My username, NaeBikerChic
another way to distract you from things you need to do! Ha!
Enjoy your summer my dear.

Oh how beautiful your lavender is! Can almost smell the sweet fragrance. What a clever idea for an I-pad case. Beautiful images!
Tell me I don’t LOVE that I pad case!!!!!!! I wonder why?????? And the other little case I am glad you are getting a break and your garden looks just charming……I love lavender….. a little bit of France around your home. Enjoy! And keep these little gem posts coming whenever you feel like it! Maryannexo
Beautiful! Your lavender is gorgeous and I love the sweet delicate smell of nicotiana floating with an evening breeze. We were all so discouraged with the late rains this year but your garden is exquisite and absolutely celebrates the summer season. It obviously enjoyed every drink from the rains.
Your I pad case creation is lovely and I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the beautiful brocade.
I am with you…this is the season to put a little distance between ourselves and so much computer time. There is so much to enjoy. However, I will be checking back often to see if you have decided to gift us with another post and beautiful pictures. Enjoy the summer!
Hope you are having a wonderful “vacance”. You are missed,
Absolutely love your photos once again. Especially love the iPad cover you made. 🙂
I just love lavender, the smell soft and airy! Love your ipad cover, well done.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, I know you get some lovely breezes!

Your lavande is gorgeous as always!
