Update: visit my friend Karin in Périgord, France
at La Pouyette here for her wonderful post about peonies!
Pure…poetry!
Hi Trish from HOT HOT FLorence i will miss your peonies they have been wonderful Fay xx
So beautiful Trish! Our house is full of them right now too. Thank you so much for the help with the weak ones, they did have botrytis. Those still have not bloomed but the varieties we have in other sunnier parts of the yard are fine and in full bloom right now. The cold and excessive rain got to them I think. They do not get the sunlight that our others do and it must weaken their immune systems. I wish peonies liked to be transplanted.
Enjoy your book and bed! I wrote a post yesterday about the part of the country I live in where we are forced to spend so much time inside in the winter. You are a lucky California girl! I dream about being a lucky California girll!

Gorgeous flowers! I hope you have a great weekend… sometimes it is nice to snuggle up and relax. Cooler weather makes me want to bake…

The book and bed sounds great. After all our storms and rain in the South an extreme heat wave has set in. We may reach 100 this weekend. Way too early for that. Your peonies are absolutely gorgeous!!!
Trish I love the way you surrounded the peonies with fresh green moss in that most lovely container!

Will this rain ever stop? Not to be a whiner, but it’s June! Did the rain shorten your peony show? In a moment of recklessness, I bought a bouquet of peonies at Molly Stone’s for $4 per stem… Yours are spectacular. So glad Alameda is postponed! Stay dry.

Grumble…grumble…yes, the rain STOPPED the peony show! Oh well…they’re keeping me company inside while it pours outside.
Trish, don’t lament the fading glory of your beautiful peonies. Here, it is just too hot for them so we never have them except from the flower markets…and they are sooo expensive. And, rain. We’ve forgotten there was such a thing!

Your bouquet is beautiful Trish and I love the peonies in that containers. I always want cut flowers in my home but I hate cutting them off my shrubs but this year I think I’ll cut! For once our weather is perfect and where do I sit in front of my computer…lol.
Your beautiful post has taken my breath away! Gorgeous. I still don’t have a full flush of peonies in the garden so I had to supplement with a bouquet from the farmers market. We have been having sunny weather in southern California but much cooler than normal and possible light showers tonight. Your bouquet is breathtaking.
I always have to cut my peonies. Here in Georgia the flowers last longer indoors, its cooler.
Enjoy them, your bouquet is gorgeous.
Oh Dear,
at least you could safe some of your Beauties! It’s drizzling here, not enough to feed the nature!
We’re praying for rain! Strange year and strange world!
Just published a post about peonies – and it might be ‘comforting’ for you.
At least you still have some peonies, you still can look forward for more, while I’m sitting here having Whitsun without Pfingstrosen (Whitsun roses)!
Beautiful photos, beautiful blossoms, I’m jealous.
Best wishes for a sunny, sunny weekend!

By the way….I always thought that “It never rains in California……..”
Trish,
They (peonies) were beautiful…well worth the work, right? Have a perfectly relaxing weekend. We finally got a bit of sunshine in Southern California but this is one of the coolest springs I can remember. I guess I prefer it over sweltering heat.

Ours just started blooming yesterday (a full two weeks after last year) and they had so much rain they are a bit less showy and volumnious this year. Was it the late start and rain? Yours are magnicent! XO
Those peonies are straight out of a Flemish painting! I love the vivid green moss and small bird nest as well. Beautiful, artistic photos!
Dear Trish, the peonies are glorious!! Love the vignettes you have shown us. Just love the little lichen covered branches and twigs. A girl after my own heart! God is in the details. Nella xo
Well despite the rain your peonies are gorgeous! it ‘s still raining at my place too. You certainly have a way with the camera. Such beautiful perspective. Vanna
These peonies are stunning Trish, as are the photos of your garden in the recent posts I just scrolled back to. I have recently found varieties of peonies that bloom later than the average, a definite must-have for next year, I’d do anything to have these fabulous flowers in my garden for longer.
Hope all is well with you
