Big rains out here in Northern California earlier this week…
Foxgloves bent and roses cowed, heavy with rainfall,
wet ground strewn with fallen petals. Peony buds are poised for
the big show by end of week. Bundles of fresh picked roses
make up for all the clean up work I’ll be doing today!
Giving me a rosy outlook…
Such beautiful roses!

I always enjoy your posts when you show photos of your fabulous garden.
These Roses [and do I see a Clematis vine in there?] are just 2die4.
I especially love the old varieties like Bourbons with those tight small petals in the center of the bloom.
My Roses struggle here due to blackspot so I am happy to see other people’s gardens where Roses are easier to grow. Thanks for showing these beautiful flowers today.
charming and beautiful as usual-what is the small pink with yellow center?
Hi LA…Bellis Perennis Tasso…or English Daisy. Had to special order it from the nursery this year…reminds me of a childhood of picking these fat daisies out of the lawn!
These are gorgeous pinks – so full and lush. I can imagine the glorious scent after the rain.
Your roses are beautiful Trish. May I ask which one is the bourbon rose? Greet was talking about you helping her with roses yesterday so I’m curious. I just bought two rose bushes and very excited about them, love roses!
Hi Debra. I have several deep pink Bourbon classified roses. The most fragrant is Madame Isaac Periere. The photo before the bouquet is of Deuile de Dr. Reynaud. Will be doing major clipping today and will attach names to faces in later post.
Just beautiful!!! My roses never look like that. You definitely have that magic touch. Mona
Trish, saw the lovely roses at Greet’s yesterday, she gave you all the credit for helping her choose the right ones to plant. Great job! And this? Well, it’s just SO you. xx’s
I love the lushness of your roses. Pink is a favorite color and I love the range of pinks in your garden. Absolutely stunning. Is the rose in the photo second from the bottom a Bourbon rose? It is so full. I would love to visit…especially when your peonies open..I am sure you could have some fabulous garden parties there.
Thank you for sharing..You made my day rosy…
beautiful! the fav color of my mom..nostalgy…
Heavenly Trish….your garden must be so beautiful now….xv
Thanks Vicky. Well…its actually a mess right now! The secret is to have a big enough garden that there are a few good shots and at least a vase worth of beauty to tide you through!
Your roses are so beautiful! Would you be willing to share your secrets to growing such beautiful plants and flowers? I’m certain that I am only one of many who would be very grateful for such a post. Thank you, Sallie
Thanks for letting me know Trish, it’s a stunning rose! Don’t forget in your update to tell us how you get your roses so big and full. I’m new at this and need all the help I can get with my roses.
Una vista gradevole per gli occhi!!!!!
And to think I’ve been proud of my single yellow rose! Oh, well…if I’m luck more will come if Atlanta gets some sunshine. Meanwhile, Trish, I’ll be content to look at yours.
“A rose is a rose…” indeed!

Hi Trish!
I totally understand about the heavy rains. We’re still squishing when we walk on grass or sink into the dirt. Grrr!
I am about to attempt to cut the almost knee high grass, that is if I don’t get stuck in a rut or clog up the mower too many times. Machete is next step.
Tree peonies are ready to burst- YEAH!
Gorgeous, gorgeous roses.
You ‘scent’ me on a pink cloud Trish!
La vie en rose…..

Trish, I am so in love with your garden! I go back and look at the various pictures and plot and plan how to create my own beautiful garden. You have truely inspired me.

Trish, gorgeous, gorgeous!!! It has rained here all week, and still cool. Can’t wait for the peony show from your garden, I can just imagine the two queens together, roses and peonies. Who will be the more beautiful? N. xo
loving them all… i am eagerly waiting for the garden to bloom… we finally have sunshine to help them along…
hoping this finds you well xoxo
I think of my rose petals on my gravel paths as the end of a Japanese wedding. My Kansas peonies are struggling to unfurl with this rain and surprising cold temps (after more than three days in the 90s!). Such an odd season. Like Tolstoy said of families. My husband is taking next week off to help with cleanup…it will rain as it always does when he “helps” me. The good news is that when he retires in a few years I won’t have to water as often! Your garden is lovely as always. It always makes me smile.
Trish,
I am so thankful to have discovered your beautiful blog a year or more ago! I have learned so much from you!! As the choice of old garden roses! Your garden must be beyond beautiful!!
Wish you a nice “rosy” weekend!!!
xx

Trish,
Your incredibly beautiful garden is what is keep me moving forward on my own garden! Thanks for sharing. I love the little English daisies peeking out.

Love your blog and posts of your lovely garden. I too grow antique and david austin roses. What are you favorite whites may I ask? I am not a “pink person” so my garden is filled with yellows, whites, and peach varieties.
Hi Cindy. I love white roses…will be posting soon about my upper garden that is only whites. Sombreuil (a c. 1850 climbing tea), Glamis Castle (a David Austin “English” rose), Coquette des Blanches ( c. 1871 Bourbon), Frau Karl Drushki (has a bit of pink tracing the bud edge), and Iceberg…idiot proof…always in bloom!
