Early Spring Violets from my garden…
Snowflake (or Leucojum Vernum) with tiny green
smudges at each petal edge, grape hyacinth (muscari)…
And so the garden begins…….
muscari, viola, hyacinth in concert…
and always the artful surprises…

That sofa is fabulous! I love all the hues of purple it looks so spring. Those are your garden flowers? life is not fair we still have a foot of snow out there but it’s melting!
Hi Trish – is that your photo of the posy with the blue ribbon? – beautiful styling, beautiful picture. We have violets here but no hyacinths yet.
Sharon
Breathtaking colors! That sofa is exquisite. Just bought a dozen pots of white and purple hyacinths yesterday…can’t wait for them to open. I think another visit to the garden center for muscari and then on to Crate and Barrel for some magenta napkins is in order. Thanks, Trish, for the lovely intro to Spring!!!!
April
You’re welcome April! The hyacinths smell absolutely divine. Might have to pick up some white ones for inside.
Lovely post Trish! thank you for sharing…Colette ~ Afrique du Sud
Wow, now that is beautiful were my first thoughts! I love all your adjectives that you used to describe- so pleasant and true!
I will remember how pretty the juxtaposition of the johnny jump ups, hyacinths, muscari were from your post next year when I plant mine. Not sure if I can grow muscari though. Your bouquet is so sweet and provokes wonderful childhood memories of picking wild violets like yours in the woods near my grandmothers. It was a delight to find a few velvets as we called them. Some of the petals would have a velvet look and feel. This was a ritual we enjoyed near Easter. Thank you for reminding me of this delightful memory.
Trish,
I love your violets and the snowflake flower. I wish the stems on my violets were longer. 😦 The colors are spectacular on all of the flowers and the French settee! I’m so ready for spring, Mother Nature, bring it on.
Karen
Hi Trish, bring on the spring! gorgeous deep emotive colors here, thanks!

This is the stuff dreams are made of. The sofa is fabulous and the violets from your garden are amazing. I want your green thumb. These deep beautiful colors just make my heart sing.
As you might guess from my blog name, I love these colors!
Beautifully staged- every photo!
We were excited today to see the snow melt and the bulbs begin to peek out of the soil. Yeah!! We even dug out bags of ginger asarum to split and give away. Wish we were closer…

My heart remains very heavy for the suffering in Japan. The garden is beginning its yearly journey and looks beautiful.
Lovely lovely images Trish. Those from your garden are my favorites. I can’t think about Japan or I start crying. So much devastation, and I’m so worried about my family there. Vanna
I like these nuances of colors. Photos are magnificent. Very much. Fine
I am soooooo in love with that sofa!
Oh! That beautiful purple settee is so regal looking. I love the picture of your bouquet of violets, snowflakes and hyacinths. My mother’s favorite flowers were sweet violets. You brought back a wonderful memory for me.
Yes, our hearts go out to Japan and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks so much Trish for sharing your spectrum of perfect purples. Your beautiful garden posts resonate for all of us with green (or even purple) thumbs.
Yes with so much suffering all of mankind suffers right along, that’s what it means to be human.
Now I feel like spring has sprung!!
love!!!!
Hi Trish,
love your purple garden. The small violets are my favorites……they are typical from the northern part of Sweden where I come from and said to be its province flower.
My best,
Ingela

What a lovely blog…I am now following you. I am loving all your pictures.
Who would have thought the simplicity of wrapping flower stems this way could have been so beautiful.

Dear Trish, this just brought such warmth to my heart. The colours are truly exquisite, and some of my favourite hues for the garden. I just ordered some white roses, Meidland, it is a hardy lovely rose which has a lot of the qualities of the old English roses, dark green foliage and dense cabbage like flowers. Most of my border is lavender coloured, the rhododendrons which are over 30 years old, so the colours which I add every year are white, soft pink, purple and a lot of boxwoods. I loved the garden Jinny Blom designed in this months Veranda. It has given me so much inspiration for this spring. Sadly we are still under snow cover here in Niagara. Thanks to you for more lovely inspiration, Nella xo
