Trish,
What a wonderful Valentine’s greeting. Are you lucky enough to grow peony in your yard? The old bourbon roses almost look like peony, I may have to get one or two or ten!
Have a lovely day!
Karen

What a beautiful Valentine you send. Thank you Trish.
Your bourbon roses are amazing! How many bushes do you have to be able to have such a display? Im in awe. Fiona
Thank you Fiona. Madame’s Ernest Calvat and Issac Perrier are big shrubby bushes that gave me all the light and hot pink roses pictured!
Oh how I wish those peonies were in my kitchen … Thank-you for the virtual thrill.
what is your secret for such magnificent roses and peonies??? just beautiful!
Hi Rebecca. Thank you. Luck…I hope I haven’t run out. Also…I was obsessed/neurotic about making sure we had good soil…tilled in a huge amount of soil amendments, added on many layers of compost over the years, obsessive about using alfalfa pellets for awhile and then and seaweed fertilizer. But generally roses are easy if they have enough sun. Peonies are the “cats” of my garden. Best left alone and they will show up…or not…depending on whether they received enough of a winter chill.
Trish-
Happy Valentine’s Day to you! I can smell the roses now- mmmm…. And those killer peonies!
What a pleasant reminder of what is in store for us! After seeing white and gray for almost three months, I am READY for color!
Funny- in my studio, I have two scented flowers blooming away: jasmine and oleander. They both are white flowers. The helleboros are right around the corner though.

Love all of the rose pictures and french-ness of your blog. I happened to link over from another and am so glad I did. Your bourbon roses are fab and they have a rich scent, too.
