After recently reading Vicki’s French Essence and Debra Shriver’s Stealing
Magnolias and French Kissed’s Favorite Things post here, and all the other blogs
lit up with their holiday finery….I thought you’d like to see what how my
Christmas decor is shaping up….
hmmm…
On the bright side… do you like my latest entry hall color? Tired of hoarding
paints, today I mixed all my leftover gray and taupe limewash paints together
and tossed them up while my husband cranked up the Christmas music and
clucked over what a messy painter I was. The garland is for your benefit…
Hope you all have a wonderful week !
I want that color! What was its name again? ;]
I just put my tree up this afternoon- don’t feel bad!
Oh dear…and we don’t have our tree yet. After the kid’s horrible schedules the last few years, we’ve begun to take a perverse delight in seeing how long we can go before we get our tree. Last year we picked it out on the 23rd…in the dark. By flashlight. When daughter is home on Tuesday we will decide how far we want to push it this year!
It’s all in the thought….great picture!
Same here, love the colour. Seriously need to decorate the tree as we have grandchildren sleeping over.
Hmmmm………… I’m not feeling so guilty. My daughter and I just finished decorating my tree (it has been patiently waiting to be attended to for over a week). I love the paint!! Have a wonderful week picking out your tree, and spending time with loved ones.
Love your style of painting Trish….it looks fantastic….xv
LOVE the grey/slate/ a la Trish mix. looking forward to seeing the rest of your greens going up.
with a almost 8year old- the tree had to go up early…so Dad stepped in this year and they did a good combined effort. just proving that they can do it without me. that makes me happy.xo Colette
I absolutely am crazy for your wall! It is fantabulous – and don’t feel bad about the Christmas decor – I put up 5 trees just last week – I am a Christmas addict and need a 12 step program for my Christmas craziness – usually start at Thanksgiving but blogging is taking up all my time…and reading incredible blogs like yours – I love it.
Only you, Trish….could make a green garland tossed on a step ladder look so elegant!
Enjoy! You can always hang your stockings off the ladder!
🙂 Laura
What a beautiful image! So simple – but stunning!!!! I love it!
Perfect painted wall, a ‘professional’ couldn’t do it better.
Warmest greetings from Périgord – karin
LOVE everything about this post!
Trish,
I”d slap a name on that paint color and sell it—I love it! The walls look slightly old world French and I love the chandelier. Hey, as I recall the Cratchit’s didn’t put up a tree until Christmas Eve. We U.S. folks are just over eager for the holiday—relax and enjoy, right?
Karen
Love the paint job Trish, funny but I was looking at that more then the garland and that chandelier in front is perfection!
Of course your newly painted wall looks fabulous! But, “limewashed” paint? Is this something your adding to your paint – or buying it that way?
Good luck on that tree.
A very Merry Christmas!
Debra
Hi Debra. I used Sydney Harbour limewash paints. An earlier post here shows a fireplace I used them on and more info. I mixed Elegance, Grey Pepper, and a later color: Stone wall.
ditto for the paint – it is GREAT> GREYT? GRAYT?
If I haaven’t thanked you lately, I thank you now. Sick in bed the last few days, yours is the post I go back to most oft, for
fabulous images and stirring ideas. Loved the blog about stealing magnolias, that book is on my list, too. Your blogs are thoughtful and original, too much copycatting going on out there.
thanks again!
The paint is fabulous and so is the chandelier. Don’t even mess with perfection. This room is stunning with a ladder draped with garland.
Trish,
Love, love the aged look of your painted walls…great depth and patina. Most talented artist are a little messy while romancing their canvas…I think you managed a masterpeice…your spotlight is a nice touch as well.
I skipped out on a tree this year… a few wreaths and a little garland, tarnished silver and I was finished… I just wanted to keep things simple. I think Jermaine had some sort of magical ‘Jingle Juice’ … busy little elf… wasn’t she? The outcome of her home is inspirational.
Wishing you a joyous Christmas!
Lee
Jingle juice…I LOVE it, Lee. Gotta sort through a couple hundred Carrara subway tiles (yes…I’m obsessive!) and THEN…back to catching up with Christmas!
Oh Christmas Ladder, Oh Christmas Ladder! Hey! It has a nice ring, no?
You know…ladders are hot now!
Love the paint color…
How can you climb to the heavens if you don’t have a ladder? Love the elegant, stoned pepper color. My husband retires in about four years and I have some concerns about his invading my territory. I told him the other day we need to prepare manuals for him and to consider him having a serious internship before he can apply for work in my kingdom! He certainly has not had much “on the job” experience! Love the idea of shopping for a tree with a flashlight and a short timeline! Wishing you and all of yours the most lovely of holidays.
Oh my goodness, the paint color is gorgeous! You need no other decorations…the ladder and garland and walls are perfection. I don’t have the time to get a tree before the 23rd so I’m not sure if I will do so. It’s been such a busy time this year but I can’t wait to hear your story of your last minute tree hunt. I am about to email my friend Jeremy to tell him about your gorgeous wall color…I love how the shadows grace the color. When he views it he will be so envious of your talent for mixing colors! Merry Christmas and I’m serious, the wall color and ladder and garland is all you need!
I am sure whatever needs to be decorated, will be acomplished before Christmas….just celebrate the “Painting of the Hall” instead of the “Hanging of the Green”.
Your wall is simply FABULOU!!!! Love it!!!
Will you send your leftovers here? Love the color that came out!
Merry Christmas Trish!
xo
the paint color combination is divine!
happy holidays!
joan
I love how you mix up leftover paints and make your own magic! Beautiful as always!
Merry Christmas!
Linsey
Love the color and how it looks.
Hi Trish, gorgeous walls, lovely photo! Wishing you a very happy Christmastime… sounds like you are on your way!
xoxo Kit
Love your wall colour and how it looks slightly uneven – is that because t wasn’t quite dry when you took the picture, or did you deliberately not blend the three colours completely?
I think that ladder christmas trees could definitely catch on! All it’s missing is a couple of baubles.

Looking good! I love the walls washed in those colors!
The ladder & greenery…….is great!
Happy Holidays,
L.
I am so glad to see that someone else was lax on their holiday decor this year. 🙂
May you truly be blessed with the peace of the season and several precious memories made.
Trish, I love your new entry wall color. I’m interested in lime wash and am wondering if it can be done over dry wall? Are your walls plaster? Please help before I make a serious boo boo. I absolutely love your blog and design style. Hope you had a great Christmas and a Wonderful New Year.
Trish, you always put everything into perspective! Who else would tackle painting an entryway two days before Christmas?? And ever the stylist, love the fresh green garland atop the ladder!! Perfect. Hope you had a great holiday. Nella
Love the color of your wall . Hope you had a wonderful christmas and I wish you the best for 2011
