Porcelain kitchen at Thureholm…
Decorated in the 1740s…
Walls, sideboards, doors decorated with scenes from
the Orient as a backdrop to the family’s collection of
blue and white porcelain imported from China…
The recess above the decorative ledge was designed to hold a cup.
Busy these days on details and struck by the beauty of every
curve, every hue of this room….

So beautiful and ethereal. Thanks for the details of life.
The first time I saw this I thought it was magical. All of that beauty painted knowing it was to become a part not THE part of an exquisite whole. Not sure whether it’s god or the devil in the details (both quotes abound) but I have to think that when a room is “detailed” with care and concern it has a pure spirit that is felt as well as seen.
truly stunning, Trish, and the craftsmanship is amazing….maureen
This is one of the most incredible rooms I’ve ever seen. wow, I hope I get to do some adaptation of this sometime for a client. Thanks so much for sharing. Mona
Inspiration for the Paris Kitchen Project…?
I am blown away by the date…1740! It’s so beautiful.

Love that last image wouldn’t it be great to be able to do that in your own home……
Truly unbelievable Trish, that this was done in the 1700’s. Testament that great design withstands the test of time. It looks so peaceful and very lovely. Wish I could start my redo with those tiles on the floor! Thank you for all eye candy and wishful thinking which always accompanies such lovely images. Nella
Yes. It is always about the details isn’t it. As always, everything you do is beautifully unique.
Warmest regards,

This is absolutely breathtaking! One of the most beautiful rooms I have ever seen. I have a feeling I will be coming back to look at this again. Gorgeous.
By the way, your thoughts about my mystery rose were correct. The rosarian said they planted 3 plants of Prince and 2 of Chrysler…alternating planting in back and front of house. He said the one you suggested was the one planted around 1946-1950 with the addition of the other in the early ’50’s. I wonder what made them plant that combination. Many thanks again for your very educated thoughts.
That’s great @ the rose. The darker roses need more sun, and I just didn’t have enough to keep mine mildew free. With all those red roses you must have wonderful sun!
So beautiful, rustic meets elegance. I’ll take it!

I saw a documentary on Swedish television about the author Lars, an incredible man that devotes his life to restore old houses. It was one of the most inspiring documentaries I’ve ever seen, he’s doing something the Swedish government care nothing for, keeping our history. The name of the documentary is “En kompass till skönheten”. Very very good!
Truly unbeleivable! The beauty and charm of the art on the walls is so captivating, I think I would build another kitchen and have this be my living room!!!
Karin lead me to this blog I like it it is simple and easy to understand. Great pictures, thank you. Gillian
