Sunday morning at Antiques by the Bay
Just a few quick shots of the flea this
morning and a reminder of an upcoming
container sale…
Much that was gorgeous…
Really …what else can I say…
Lovely…
The seller was still mulling over which of
these she was going to keep for herself…
sourced from Round Top
This huge trunk was $25…
Loved these old ice cream freezer buckets…
Heavy, tall, water tight, perfect for umbrellas…or lamp bases…
From the same “kids” who introduced me to grains sacks
when I first started going to the flea market three
years ago…
Still the best bargain around…
from Ludwiga Covert…

And last but not least…
An old favorite…Atelier de Campagne…
Though Atelier de Campagne is at the flea market every month, they
also regularly hold container sales of just arrived, hand picked merchandise
direct from Europe. The next container sale will be this coming
weekend…October 9 & 10…at their home near Santa Cruz
Several times a year Johan and Trinidad rummage their way through France
and Belgium, attending antique fairs and dropping into antique shops to collect
a warehouse’s worth of treasure for each sale. Here is a partial account by Trinidad
from a piece he wrote for the Alameda Point Antique Fair newsletter:
“After the first fair, we head to the South, making a major pit stop in Le Mans
for our first “debalaque”. Most people recognize this city for its car races, but
to antique dealers and brocanteurs, it is a great place to buy and sell.
Our next stop is Beziers, which is quite close to the Mediterranean.
We shop these for two days and in between, we visit Pezenas, which is a
beautiful, ancient little town, and whose main street is lined
up with quaint homes, restaurants, and of course, antique shops.
Avignon is our next stop. This formerly papal city has many points of interest
and a peculiar center of town, which in days of old, was surrounded by
the river…hence the song Sur la Pont D’Avignon. Our last stop is Montpellier,
and from there we find our way back to our place in Belgium.
For more information and photographs of some of the new
merchandise that will be arriving visit the Atelier de Campagne website…

I just got home from eight days at Roundtop and seeing this still makes my heart skip and wish I could have been there this morning. It’s just in my blood, what can I say?
Beautiful pictures Trish, in many ways better than our fairs here, because you’ve had all the rubbish filtered out!

Just beautiful….. I agree with the seller mulling over want she was going to keep for herself…it would be hard for me to decide. an old friend here in Oregon who grew up in the antique and rug industry told me once she learned when very young lessons on letting go, and only treasure just a few at a time.
Cheers,
Joanny
What an inspiring tour! I hope that someone snapped up that trunk…fab!—Happy hunting!

Hi Trish, I have been following your blog for a couple of months now…your photos are always amazing! I was also at the flea market yesterday and it’s funny to see the green beer garden table that I bought from Atelier de Campagne’s. And darn, i missed out on that pretty cool umbrella wire thingy :-). I also just want you to know that I recently started my own garden and your blog is where I find a lot of inspirations from. Thanks so much for all the wonderful posts!
Hi Minie. I think Johan has another one that he’s unloading for the container sale! Into umbrellas as well!
I would have much rather been at that flea market than the one I was at Saturday. Looks a little warmer. I like all the old linen, which is all the rage now seems like.

I think you and I are kindred spirits. I love carrying my camera through the fields here in Texas (Marburger, Round Top, etc.). So many incredible photo ops…and puling my camera out keeps me from pulling my wallet out too regularly! Wish we could join each other!
Have the best week!
Linsey
hello Trish, so many beautiful pieces as always . Hope you are doing fine
Trish,
I am so jealous! Every photo was filled with gorgeous treasures.
And, believe me, we don’t see anything like that around here!
annie
Insanely gorgeous.
Such wonderful picture you are sharing. I remember I saw you at the last Atelier sale. I believe you were with
two other women. We were all so busy looking at wonderful treasures so I did not want to disturb you. Thank you
for showing these lovely pictures of the Sunday flea…a glorious way to start a Sunday morning.
Hello Blooming Rose! So neat to make the connection, now. I remember you! You fit perfectly with your roses!
que de trésors!!!
Amicalement,
Manon
Trish – so lovely. It makes me so sad that I missed Roundtop this time around. I love your eye.
