Just got my copy of Bobby McAlpine’s book The Home Within Us
Loved listening to the Skirted Roundtable’s interview
of Bobby McAlpine here …
Wonderful book…wonderful interview…
Beyond the architectural perfection
and perfectly poised antiques…paint color is
only just a small part of the magic…
but a welcome jolt of inspiration…

Back to the last bits of painting…
Found my perfect gray…at last…
Have a lovely weekend!!!!!!!
Love the anchor Trish, went and looked at the original anchor post – beautiful. Also adore the sketching mural but not convinced by the stools alternating with chairs around the dinner table. I’d hate to sit for dinner on a stool in such a formal setting!

I sketched in pencil on my daughter’s wall when she was a kid…she was into Egyptology…its a very cool, subtle effect. With you on the stools!
I have got to get Bobby McAlpines’ book! Stunning photos as always Trish and once again you’re sending me off to view another one of your posts…can’t wait to see. How goes the painting job?
Hi AO…took midweek break…kids, husband home for 2 days. Really liking the color…touching up molding! Book is just a perfect balance of strong, clean, classical architectural lines…and interior decor restraint.
I bought the book the minute it came out and have read it from cover to cover twice. I am amazed with Bobby’s talent but was more than a little disappointed with his interview on The skirted Roundtable. He is such a genius it is probably hard to get inside his head. But I also found him a little arrogant and rude to the girls, which I found disappointing. I liked the image I had in my mind of him better before the interview.
Hello Trish
You have convinced me that I cannot be without this book ..so must have! looking forward to see you perfect grey- that is enough inspiration to paint..and paint…and paint.. until it is done! have a lovely weekend.Colette x
Oh you are such a tease…how long do we have to wait to see the perfect gray!!!???
~jermaine~
I have been following Bobby McAlpine for years. Everything he does just blows me away!
I was just thinking about you and your painting, wondering if you’d finished.
I, on the other hand, have still not found the perfect color for the kitchen. I may put it off till late fall, 🙂
Happy weekend, Trish! (Spend it outside in your lovely garden and not painting!)
-Ann
Thanks for the reminder- I knew the book was coming out soon. Just placed my order!!
The antique anchor is wonderful, too.
The Venetian dining chairs and your anchor make my heart sing. Thanks for starting my week-end off with inspiration.
I need to listen to SRT…it’s on my to-do list! And, now so is that book…thanks for a preview!!! Good luck with the painting & Have a great weekend!
This book is now on my “Must See” list. Thank you so much for sharing.
Another storm swept through tonight taking down electricity and any sense of control over the natural world. Power out for several hours as rain—RAIN—swept through. Loved the BMc interview and the soft southern voice with its nuance and even its shock comments. No one utters that word better than a male from the deep south. The cover of the book had me at the stone wall. I concur with Jermaine that you do tease a bit about the perfect gray. Hope you are loving it.
Ok, I am becoming Bobby McAlpine fan too!!!!!! I’m getting a copy, too…. I am loving those parsons chairs…..The pencil sketch with the wash on the wall is stunning!!!! I too am waiting for your perfect grey color……..Maryanne xo
Trish,

Trish:
Thanks so much for featuring our work on your lovely blog! It’s quite an honor.
The honor is all mine, Greg…thank you! Such a beautiful book!
I sleep with Bobby McAlpine – or at least with his book, which is permanently on my bedside table. The entire staff is extraordinarily talented. Wish I had a wonderful piece of land to entice them to build on and design. Ah well, such is life….keeping a dream alive! Very nice post, Trish!

After reading your post I immediately ordered the book. Thanks for the review – the book is great.
