The essence of style — that outfit is beautiful on that young lady — and the 18th century French embroidered silk blouse…timeless appeal — certain objects of beauty are perennial just like the damask roses or the peonies that came back each spring. You fooled me on your bedroom I really though I caught a glimpse of the Paris roof tops. Simply divine.

Ditto what Joni says!
LOOOVE that french barometer! And, your bedroom is just dreamy (what kind of wood or finish is that on the armoire?)! It all is absolutely beautiful and inspiring.
Hi Karen. Thank you. I stripped the finish, bleached the wood, and then used an almost dry brush with cream paint to highlight some areas, particularly the carving.
Oh la la !!! Superb and delightful ! Thank you Trish, you’re lifting up our days…….

Oh Trish,
Every time I see a glimpse of your home, I want to see more of it!!!! It looks so French, so romantic and so stylish!! Look at that picture of your dressing room! I am dreaming….
xx
Greet
As always, trés bonne!
Your dressing room is a heady blend of innocence and erotic – it reminds me of one of the sets from Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
I want to know what that model exiting the Paris café is doing with my Dusty?!
I hit pause often when re-watching the film with Glen Close. Ah…the mirrored boiserie. I rarely “dress-up” so the dressing room is such a folly! My daughter loves it though…great venue for mother-daughter talks! One does need a tiny “dusty” for that mink trimmed coat!
how one can not be inspired by a 1780 silk bodice, I certainly am. Not to mention Galiano. pgt
All the beautiful warm golden tones feel like a gentle sunlight…
The romance, the beauty of it all!
Trish- you should be a set designer.
Gorgeous! Totally took me away! xxs
Awesome. I am just overwhelmed. Love it all!
I’ve just been spending more time reading some of your old posts. I love your blog. Did you stop by my blog yesterday and leave a comment? I had a nice comment from a Trish but the link kept failing and I could not see who it was. I just found yours from visiting other blog friends and noticed that the fabulous author’s name is “Trish”.
Hi Mona! Yes, that was me…enjoyed going all the way back to the beginning of your blog! Wonderful images!
OHHHHHHH, that antique French silk embroidered cocoa colored blouse is to die for!!!
It just recently sold at auction! Someone is probably unwrapping the tissue as we speak. Lucky!
When the opening photograph unfurled on my MAC, I thought it was Bardot in Blue! In my theatrical youth, I could have worn this in a heartbeat. I think I could still pull off the hat. Your dressing room is lovely, serene and elegant in its restraint. I think many a Parisian would trade the rooftop views you long for a panoramic view of your garden any day.
I think old ladies should wear mink trimmed, rose embroidered coats. A little shellac on our aging veneers!
Gorgeous images! Sigh…so romantic!
You do all realize I spend most days spreading smelly compost, or doing some fix-up inside… shovel or paint brush in hand? After spending yesterday hurling rotted wooden garden steps into a debris box, the photo of the Parisian girl stepping out in Galliano was intoxicating to me. Caught between dreams and reality!
A very decadent , belle epoch post! Love it!
i can not anything new to what was already said. i am amazed with your blog….anything short of that should be punished with time in purgatory…..
Merci, Barbara. Its wonderful that we all share the same daydreams!
Hi Trish,
I totally agree with Barbara, there is nothing left to say- it has all been mentioned…is there another word for awstruck,WOW, ugh..sigh…amazing…. I ditto Greet…sharing little peeks into your home is like only being allowed to see some pictures in the most beautifull book…more more more…!
have al lovely day…Colx
Trish –

Those Colors too-!

I hardly look at fashion magazines anymore…my daughter brought these home. I tend to find myself wondering how a room would look with that dress at the windows, or how adorable a stool is that a pair of shoes is tucked under.
Trish, again a carefully and exquistely executed beauty of a post and all around a colour, fawn, (that’s how we spell colour in Canada!) You are a little bundle of energy, gardening, decorating and blogging! God love you! Nella xo
When are you starting your blog, Nella!? Blogging does cut into one’s reality TV programing…oh wait, that’s probably a good thing!
Love your dressing room , it seems time stops there
Trish- sorry to be a pain – do you have any more site info on the Cafe pic? I have developed a huge interest in steampunk fashion – that “look” is so glamourous, it woudl knock the steampunkers off their socks.
thanks for such a beautiful blog-
Hi Louise…you’re not at all a pain! Happy to oblige. Tracked down the magazine the photo came from (added in above): photographer is Steven Meisel, Vogue September 2007 more here

What a beautiful blog to visit. It’s such a happy place!
Sigh . . .
Every time I come for a visit here, I get to feast on beauty. Thank you for that. Your barometer has stolen my heart.

old costumes and clothes are so special to me, they have something mysterious and well, old…
love your post, every time a delight 🙂

OMG! That barometer certainly is gorgeous, I am amazed at the pristine condition of the carvings and the face! I can certainly imagine this room in an Atelier in Paris…. And the Balloon shade, so volupuous! I think they have fallen out of favor lately but this is gorgeous as always….Maryanne xo
Beautiful, beautiful photos!
As is to be expected, you have kept the blog world spinning with beautiful images and commentary while I have been in Paris. I have checked in briefly, but feel terrible about peeking in without leaving comments for you and so many of my favorite bloggers. But I selfishly lived and clung to every moment. Your gardens are breathtaking and I love the new bed in the dressing room ~ the barometer…and I could just go on and on! The beauty that comes to us via the virtual reality of Trouvais makes it bearable to to kiss Paris goodbye yet another time. Chicken soup for the soul…Trouvias for the French in all of us! Merci for the opportunity to see through your eyes.
~jermiane~
I dream of Paris while you walk its streets…albeit not in a $17,000 Gautier embroidered coat I’m guessing. Then I’d REALLY be jealous! Hope French Kissed starts churning out more of those travel photos soon!
