The lovely Sharon of My French Country Home just tagged me to talk about the 10th
photo in my photo file. Last April I took a photo of one of my favorite “finds”…
The terra cotta Houdon bust is in one of my first posts Rosy Scenarios here ,
as well as a later post Vintage Terra Cotta here. It has French, art, motherhood,
and even earth (gardening) all wrapped into it. An object that personifies my passions…
Houdon captured the most magnificent expressions on his subject’s faces, particularity
his studies of children. A moment of arrested thought…wonder….simple joy…
This is one of my little masterpieces….
my youngest…18 now and set to go off to college in the Fall…
He used to tag after his sister when she went to preschool…
He’s always been curious about how things work and built
his own computer last year, fixes everything, and loves
AP Physics (which severely traumatized his math wiz sister).
Our cat is putty in his hands, waits for him at the bottom of the
steps until he goes up to his room and trots after him…
When his sister visits from college he gets underneath her serious
side and makes her laugh heartily…music to a mother’s ears…
Here he is after giving his adorable girlfriend her corsage
on Prom night last Saturday….
Sigh…motherhood has simply been marvelous…
That’s what I think of when I look at that photo…
So…I tag….
Carolyn Green from Draffin Bears
Theresa Cheek from Art’s the Answer
Solange from Celebrating My Home
Valorie from Visual Vamp
Maryanne from Beadboard Upcountry
Joni from Cote de Texas
to looks into their photo files and tell us a story about their 10th photo….
I know some of you have some VERY deep archives to fall into…
ahh…memories….
What a lovely post Trish, I can so relate!
Your son is adorable!!!
Such a handsome son…you can see the light …the warmth of his being in those eyes! You must be so proud!
(:
How very dear. He seems so happy and sweet.
They grow up, and then they are off and the house is empty and still. My youngest attends school in the area, thank goodness, but she is twenty on Friday. TWENTY. Jeeze.
The little guy “who me?” portrait is adorable. You’ve given him great roots…now time for wings. And you deserve time of your own, starting in the new bath with candles and champagne.
You can be very proud of the way in which you pursue your passions and while you nurture each of them so beautifully, it appears as if motherhood has been your finest accomplishment. Your children are a wonderful reflection of their mother and all that you have poured into them through the years. So little chubby cuties grow into hunks like Brent and can still be so very sweet and thoughtful. Keep enjoying your last few months with your adorable son before he takes the big step forward. I have to keep reminding myself that this is as it should be…if we have done our job they do spread their wings and fly away, but thankfully they always know the way back home. ~jermaine~
There couldn’t be a bigger contrast between his sister’s high dungeon histrionics at that age and his sunny sweetness. Very disarming. He feigns rebellious outbursts just for fun…but he doesn’t have it in him. Wish I could bottle that!
Hey Trish!
Thanks this will be interesting, I’m hoping my 10th photo isn’t of someones ratty old chair that needed upholstering…..EEEEWW! I will look!! BTW your little masterpiece is quite the cutie and I love the bust……Maryanne XO
Hi Maryanne…ratty…I mean “deconstructed” is IN! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I think my # 5 photo was one of those!
what a sweet post – you must be very proud.
What a cool idea!
Treasure the moments with your son- they are gone in flash.
All 3 of my kids were home last weekend and I loved it!
Hi Trish,
Love the bust, very elegant.
How beautiful seeing your cute baby and then the handsome young Man ~ how they grow up so quickly and you wonder where the years went. Beautiful couple and yes, Motherhood is marvelous.
Many thanks for tagging me and I will have to see what my 10th photo is.
Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn

Trish, a masterpiece indeed. What a handsome young man and new horizons await him (and you) with your last going away. I know there will be tears, but they always come home with hungry friends!
xx
Trish,
What a handsome young man! You must be feeling quite nostalgic with graduation coming soon. My youngest is away at college now and I’m looking forward to his return for the summer….
