Axel and May Vervoordt’s bathroom
18th century boiserie
Thomas Gainsborough painting
Crystal chandelier
Watery blue greens
Champagne?
Love Axel Vervoordt‘s bold and spare and rough Belgian style…
but while Restoration Hardware et al are running with that meme,
I love the personal glimpse into his and May’s private style
at home… in personal spaces like bath…
kitchen,
and garden…

Trish, don’t know what I would do without my daily dose of Trouvais or seeing the creations of the fabulous Vervoordts! Thank you for sharing beauty each and every day. How could we live without it!
April
April…what a sweet thing to say! I really appreciate that. Merci!
His style is certainly beautiful!
Trish, Vervoodt’s interiors are our daydreams … So great , they exist. The colors are fabulous
Interesting…he is definitely not intimidated by color. Sweet dreams.

I loved this. Not a grand “design” house. Just reeking with European flavor and good taste. Thanks Trish.

I’m hung up on the Gainsborough over the bathtub. What about water spots?!? This is where you say, it’s just a print, you noodle! (I hope…)
Hi Sheila. Um…gulp…no. “A painting attributed to Thomas Gainsborough hangs in the alcove alcove, above the tub”.
Hi Trish,
Lovely post ~ I adore the watery blue greens of the bathroom and the potager garden is wonderful.
Thanks for sharing all this beauty.
Have a very happy weekend

I have such admiration for Axel Vervoordt. I read and reread all his books. To me, he is a modern renaissance man, from his perfect taste, acute business sense, scholarly knowledge of history and art, modern art curator, a visionary.
Thank you for the beautiful images……I could only dream of such a bathroom
Hi Trish
Thank you for your very nice mail – it’s a good feeling when someone appreciates what you do. I am also glad you like my philosophical approach to life, it might come with age – maybe a little too much sometimes …
You also have a great blog witch I love! I allowed me to put it under my favorite blogs.
We have the same opinion when it comes Axel Vervoordt, I love his work and think he is fabulous talented!
Wish you a great week!

dear trish-
enjoyed the view of the gardens immensely, as we are under 5 ft of snow – however, hte sun is starting to warm our weary bones.
thank you for the view of the gardens, I will have to give this some thought.
I have a 5 hour layover in Houston coming up, do you have any advice re” fabric or curiosity shops that would be worth a visit?
kind regards,
Hi Louise. Earlier in February Joni (Cote de Texas) profiled several Houston shops here and here. I envy you!
There’s always so much eye candy on your blog it makes me dizzy 🙂
I was thinking like Di!
I’m newly in love with everything french! Beautiful post!
