Hoping to wake to one more day of sunshine
before the rain returns…
My favorite mornings are when the sun breaks over the hills,
quietly filters through the windows and then sweeps broadly across
the floorboards until it lights the far corners of the room. After so many
damp, cloudy days, and especially on a Sunday, I like to stay in bed long
enough to admire all the patterns and textures that emerge from their
winter gloom.

A very long week…so grateful for a sunny Sunday….
lovely – thank you
Quelle trouvaille YOU are. I’ve visited I don’t know how many times and every time I’m enchanted by your exquisite blog. Every post is deliciously beautiful and you perfectly capture the aura of la vie française.
I’ve given those lovely antique nightshirts/nightgowns over and over as gifts. It takes a special person to appreciate them. Heaven forbid someone might have to iron something. . .
My friend Edith just sanded down her old metal lawn chairs and is about to paint them, she plans to let the table go another year or so. She said the chairs had passed the shabby chic stage and just looked old and sad.
Much to say, but you get the general idea, I’m a fan.
Also I noted in a post past you mentioned your 13-year-old German shepherd. Mine, Macha, turned 13 this month and thanks to Charlotte, five-years-old and also a German shepherd, she is in great form.
Warmest regards,
Tishx
Hi Tish. I love your blog A Femme d’un Certain age…the first one where I couldn’t get out of the side column for pages! I could use some sanding down myself…
Bonjour,
It gets better with each image – lovely bedlinens, I love little touches of lace. The teapot is just marvelous. Tish is right you do capture the aura of la vie français!
Bon Sunday!
So beautiful and inspiring as always. Just love your blog.
Hi Mimi. Thank you! The gray tones were prescient…the sun refuses to come out today!
I feel so relaxed after looking at these soft and beautiful images….think I need a nap!
Those linens…that bed….
sigh…
🙂
Great pic of the 18th century French chemise, thank you.
Regards, Le Loup.
Old linen is incredible. The hardiest of antique textiles!
Hi,
What a wonderful, absolutely perfect Sunday post! Spent some time going back once again through your “favorites” for some needed inspiration for both my shop and my home. I’m definitely inspired, completely in awe and insanely jealous – we can’t grow peonies or lavender here in the Lowcountry, too hot. But, I keep trying and keep dreaming.
Lynn
Hello Madame Lynn…aka “The Side Door Antiques” …loved Corey’s chronicles with you at Marburger here last fall. I sure hope I can come next year!
I am a chemise fan as well…beautiful collections, xv.
New York daughter is moving into a sleek contemporary apartment in a few weeks which is currently a very blank white canvas. She is also dreaming in shades of gray and looking to me not only for design advice but the elbow grease to pull it off. Not having much experience with grays, thank goodness I have you, Trouvias and the many gorgeous images you have posted over these months for reference and inspiration. I may be calling you for some paint colors! These images are serenely beautiful.
