I love aqua…really I do…

but it showed up uninvited in my white crackle glaze subway tiles. You can see

the bottom tile (a square) is a good match for the tumbled white marble mosaic floor.

But the other tiles have the slightest tint of aqua. My husband came home late the day

they had done @ 25% of the bathtub wall and said adroitly “well, it’s blue”. I can’t tell you

how many times he repeated this mantra while I showed the box with “white” written on the

side, and used various forms of argument to convince him that they were supposed

to be white. Act 2, scene 1 …we removed all the tiles, scraped off the mortar, repaired to

the tile shop the next day to pick out classic (uncrackle glazed) white subway tile.  I

might reuse the aqua tile in the master bath shower. I’m torn, because I’m really

into chalky “Astier de Villatte” white and gray….though still loving watery blends of

aqua and green….

Here are a couple Astier cups in the blue-green painted interior

of the kitchen cabinet. When I painted this interior several years

ago I layered and glazed several shades of blue and green to get

this muted cool tone….

Here is a crop of a Whistler painting with gorgeous aqua and green tones…

And a lovely 19th century Venetian slipper chair, complete with visage

at top and rococo flourished carvings on the silvery legs…

If it wasn’t for the hefty shipping charge

I would have bid on this…can you

just imagine it reupholstered in a rough

Belgian linen and placed alongside a white

bathtub to hold your favorite book?

Je regret….sigh…

The queen of pretty…Tricia Guild…

I have several of her books where she sashays

easily from neutral to feminine, soft brights…

I bought my daughter a pair of thigh high brown tweed socks with three

aqua fuzzy balls on each side…adorable and Anthropologie of course…

Would love to redo her bedroom with this fabric…charming!

Hmmm…the aqua is growing on me…
