White Chocolate Tiramisù Trifle with Spiced Pears
No calories if you just stare at it….
Bon Appétite via Epicurious here
Thank you to all my kind readers
and supportive fellow bloggers…
You’ve gotten me in the mood to roll up
my sleeves and get in the kitchen again…
Hope you all are enjoying the
sights, smells and tastes of a wonderful
holiday season
Still working on my kitchen fireplace. Originally all brick, I had plastered the grooves,
put a few top coats of plaster, and had a professional apply the final skim coat.
I had had the Sydney Harbour Paint Company pamphlet saved for years…
always wanting to try limewash paint…
When I saw Jermaine’s French Kissed post here , I realized she had used the same
product! Serendipity! Emboldened by Jermaine’s success, and encouragement, I tried
3 separate products: Distemper, Interno Limewash, and Limewash…
Each in a separate color: Elegance, Pumice, Grey Pepper…
Very happy with the result…still need to add a little architectural heft
but I like the almost Belgian simplicity so far….
The gray tones pick up the rough accent piece
in the smooth limestone floor…
I like to add elements slowly
as I find them…
waiting for the perfect piece of architectural treasure.
Let me know if any of you dare try the Tiramisù Trifle…
XO
Trish
Forget the calories…I`ll have some of that trifle please!!!
The fireplace!!!! Stunning!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you!!
Joni Webb…or, as I like to call you, “Best of the Web”…merci!
An extra large serving please!
Your fireplace is fabulous….your attention to detail is admirable and always pays off…
Isn’t it fun to find that serendipity all over the internet and world?!
Happy day! Laura
So sad for your loss. Reminded me of putting our dog, Misha down. I guess I really see the lesson in giving dogs a limited time with us…but I wish God had rethought it…it’s awfully painful.
As we make our way through this Holiday season with our little candy business, my mind is into January when we hope to get back to closing down our warehouse space…a multi-year process, as it has turned out…
In the 80s we bought a beautiful property in Lake Forest, Il where we acquired some large concrete pots; later in
SF we bought a concrete table formerly owned by a designer…your outdoor table reminded me of ours, point of all of this is we’ll be selling these…too heavy to take to Alameda…
Every year since forever, it seems, a very similar trifle has been part of our holiday celebrations, thanks to a local
Bay Area teacher, Charlotte Combe…it’s great for breakfast, if any happens to make it…no chocolate in ours.
Love your blog; it’s awesome…take care, Marnie
Trish, if I had half your energy and a quarter of your talent, I’d be a very happy woman! Lovely – as always.
Thank you, April…but if you only knew how long it takes to get things done! And the older I get the more I have to remind myself “so what if it doesn’t work, I can do it over”. Biggest obstacle is self doubt. “Believe in your self”, I need to listen to what I tell my kids! Best wishes, and thanks again! Trish
Love the fireplace and your gracious email to me when In inquired about how you did it! It’s looking wonderful. Here’s to the journey of finding the perfect pieces. As to getting older…do it over… I turned 60 in October and was telling the cable guy my plans to redo my kitchen (his wife is a chef) as he was changing some cable wiring for me. He looks at my graying hair and says, “I wouldn’t wait too much longer if I were you.” That he said that in the kindest, gentlest way made it even funnier. Another slice of the trifle, please.
HBD…priceless! My Mom’s almost 80 though, just met her in San Francisco for a bit of shopping yesterday. Helped her redo her kitchen after she was 70. That woman can run rings around me.
Trish, Since I started following your blog it has become evident to me that I would swoon over most/all of your home. But, the vignette photos are not enough for me. When the fireplace is completely finished, can we get a panoramic shot of the kitchen?
Glad you are feeling a little better.
Hi Jenny C. Will try to take panorama soon…until then here’s a fairly good shot from earlier post. The fireplace is on the wall to the right. I replaced doors to gray cabinet after fitting them with chicken wire.
Your fireplace is gorgeous!
Wonderful to see that you are “back in the kitchen”. I have missed having my morning tea with you, Trish! Thanks for crediting me with pushing you over the edge and tackling your fireplace. It looks lovely just as it is and I can only imagine how stunning it will be when you marry it to the architectural treasure that will no doubt find you soon And as you will see in a few days, you have inspired the “showpiece” of my Great Room’s Christmas decor and I cannot wait to unveil it. Inspiration from blogging friends is just the best!

Isn’t that what blogging is all about! I’ve run to the bookstore when someone has posted great shots from a magazine or bought a book because someone has done a great review, run out to pick up pillows when someone else has alerted me to a sale. Bought limewash paint with new courage to tackle a project. Blogs are good for business!
Deliciously beautiful! I too take my time adding elements to my home decor. Something must speak to me! Take care with your recent loss of a dear pet and thank you for your lovely inspiration.

Hi Greet…I keep noticing in so many of your great photos of Belgian design that often the fireplaces are very simple. I really appreciate all your inspiration.
What a fabulous kitchen! Are your counters granite? I love the warm color of them.
Hi Christine. Counter’s are honed Light Jerusalem Gold limestone…as are the floors (though they have a bit of shine).
Everything is a beautiful reflection of your talents, hard work and great taste.
Pardon my stomach for growling after seeing that trifle.
I have been inspired here many times.
