Unbelievable survival of French Empire embroidery portraying peacocks with snakes
and other romantic flora and fauna. Silver, gold and intense indigo threads on brilliant
deep pink silk with a softly time faded quality.

Trish,
I always wonder where you find all those beautiful images! I looovvveee the picture of the Apartment of Karl Lagerfel! Should he use the bed or would it be a decorative item!

I love these glimpses into the past with the survival of these sumptuous fabrics. Incredible the amount of work that went into one piece!
Wow lots of great images! I’m loving those Wisteria book boxes and that chair in pink silk!
My husband brought home a french chest yesterday, apparently the owner didn’t appreciate the curvy carved legs and dumped it upside down on the curb in the rain. It is now resting safely in my home, I needed some inspiration to transform it as someone did a very poor job of faux finishing it …and I think the stand the clock is resting on gave me exactly that. Now all I need is the time. I should take before and afters and post them.
Thank you.
Lee
So pretty…those pink tones are so cheerful, something to remember as we start heading into cold Northeast winter! The beaded and embroidered pillow is gorgeous…such workmanship. You always find the most beautiful images!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You manage to inspire me everyday. Really you have some of the most unique images and an amazing eye. I know I can always come here and find something delicious.
so very very gorgeous! i esp love the little wisteria pink books – they just sent me a pair of blue ones that i adore!!!!!!!
Thank you for all your lovely comments. I was in the throes of a design dilemma (decisions… decisions)…and took time out to smell the roses.
Okay ~ I just discovered another talent you possess. I could not take my eyes off the last two photos in this post ~ that luscious pink and green chair viewed with the rose photo beneath ~ a delicious dose of eye candy! I will forever envision those images married together. If you ever want to give up your day job you would be fabulous at layout design. ~Jermaine~
Incredibly beautiful! Even though the furnishings are antiques, the lively pink makes them feel fresh and new. I love how your pictures of the furniture, roses, and other beautiful items transition from the warm golden hues to dusty rose, and on to bright pink. Wow… those roses are from your garden? They are amazing! Your blog is one of my top favorites!
Wonderfull, love the lit a la polonaise.
i am not a huge fan of pink, but its very nice.
David

You had me oohing and ahhing!
I love the Cresssida English Rose, I think the old fashioned David Austin roses have to be my favourites.
Also Karl Lagerfelds room is gorgeous and the wisteria book boxes, and the pinks chairs, all divine.
