A misty long view towards
Belgian Villa Rozenhout
c. 1790
Le grande vestibule, sparsely adorned with a chaise d’époque,
19th century chandelier and mirrored sconce…
has a tantalizing view through a succession of rooms…
stone giving way to aged parquet patterns underfoot
Aquired by Belgian couturier Edouard Vermeulen in 1990.
Vermeulen designs clothing with simplicity and purity and he
arranged the mansion in Wavre-Saint-Catherine between
Bruxelles et Anvers with the same principles
The floor is reclaimed from un château délaissé…
forsaken chateau…
“L’ambiance du grande salon, avec ses lambris anciens, a exigé pas
mal de travail. J’adore les belle patines. En rendant à la Villa Rozenhout
son charm ancien, je l’ai en fait rajeunie.” To paraphrase, alot
of careful work was put into restoring the original finishes
and returning the Villa to its original ancient charm…
Les panneaux ont été fabriqués sur mesure
par l’actuel maître des lieux
Dans la salle de loisirs (in the leisure room)…

Antique Directoire writing desk…
The estate includes a caretaker’s lodge, orangery (conservatory),
une ravissant pavillion fête equipped with an outdoor kitchen

All looks pretty perfect to me 😦
Gorgeous Villa …….and beautiful photos…I love the Belgian fourniture ¡¡¡¡ ……Your BLOG is very nice…..all the days…..¡¡¡¡ Berta
So calm, elegant and beautiful, I love the soft neutral colours
I’m not sure if the paneling (love the green cast) is original to the house or reclaimed. If anyone’s French is better than mine, please advise…!
Yes Trish, indeed that is also one of my favourite inspiring homes! I did a post about my inspiring homes and castles earlier and I wrote about Eduard Vermeulen and his house!

Very lovely. I dream of these kind of rooms. Thanks for providing the imagery.
I would live in a shack if I could have grounds like that first image! Absolutely dreamy.
this is one of my favorite houses, ever! I am going to “borrow” some of these pictures!!!!! what a floor! and the paint job!!!!
There’s something so exquisite about Belgian design – always so understated and elegant.
I’m french and I would love to say french are the best but for this kind of ambiance , I have to confess ” les Belges ” are the best
A little French goes a long way…my favorite Belgian style dilutes, pales, roughs up and stretches out the French a bit…with a moody gray, green or cobbled beige background.
