Rare Regency Fashion engraving
by Madame Lanchester
“Le Miror de la Mode”
c. 1803
Enchanting… so exquisitely detailed, plumes of wheat dancing in
her hair. “Le Miror de la Mode” only ran from 1803 to 1804…
making this etching very scarce, expensive and, alas, sold…

Hi Trish,
So beautiful these engravings! I have a lot of engravings at home because I love them! Yesterday I bought again 4 19th century engravings of grapes . I will hang them in my oranjerie.

the first is lovely- I am particularly drawn to the illustrations with the figures with backs turned- that is mostly what I have in my collection. I love the way you laid out this post. Beautiful. GT
This is a beautiful painting but don’t you think she looks as though she is pulling at her knickers?
Hi Di…yes…begs the question…what underwear was she wearing…?
Oh my, the top one, with the wheat in her hair… breathtakingly beautiful! Just as well that it is sold, so I do not need to pine away for it…

I love this Lanchester Full Dress plate ! A pity gilding doesn’t show up in scans. I believe her armlets & headdress are touched with gold paint. I’ve seen this Full Dress plate in the book Jane Austen Fashion.
