This traditional French straw hat
has either a tiny crown (Petit Lavandiere)
or larger crown (Grand Lavandiere)
that perches atop the head.
Worn by lavender harvesters.
Affixed by a black ribbon.
Theses hedges are made up of a type of English Lavender
hybrid (or “lavandins”) called “Provence”…

Still fresh lavender has the same vibrancy
of this Carolyn Quartermaine collage…
It dulls as it dries… on a linen cloth
to catch every fragrant bud..
A stone outdoor dining table
inundated with clipped lavender…
Photos from before the harvest…
perhaps I’ll get a second bloom this year…
Is this your back yard? I am dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I love all the pictures of the lavender and gardens. Beautiful!!! I planted some provence lavender and it is doing so well and has really grown so high that it has fallen over and is full of blooms. It has only been in the ground one year. Love the straw hat. Were could I purchase one?
