The inspirational images files are open…
dreams and ideas confronting reality…
Materials are gathered or ordered…
or very nearly fetched…
Carrara marble honed subway and brushed mosaic…
with bits of gray stone left over from my son’s bathroom…
The tub…sigh…will just have to wait
until we bump that side of the house out…
This is the sort of tub that really requires
it’s own little wing…
Should I or shouldn’t I?
Might just have to pass this beauty up…
Restoration Hardware…
I can be quite frugal sometimes…
A favorite Restoration Hardware image…
Love the frosty whites and grays…
Venetian mirror and Turkish marble sink are staying…
The sink perfect for rolls of Turkish towels…
Imagining the mirror slightly higher…hung from chains…
Still love those three hooks for my linen chemises…
Counter replaced by a gray honed limestone or soapstone…
Since this part will be done by a stone fabricator, I have
the luxury of making the decision later.
Will try to sneak in a bit of black….
And gray….
My husband is not keen on the idea of
bumping his head on a Venetian lantern
hanging in the middle of the bathroom…
But wouldn’t one of these be lovely?

What could go wrong?
Always love the challenge of creating the most positive affect with the least
amount of time and money. Wish me luck! And thanks Jermaine of French Kissed
and esteemed commenter Home Before Dark for all your behind the scenes hot tips!
Would love to hear everyone’s hot tips…and since it’s so close to Halloween…

No tips. just waiting (with bated breath) for pictures of the final outcome. Your plan looks wonderful, venetian lanterns and all!!
It all sounds wonderful and I am sure the bath will be stunning. I do love the marble sink and the lanterns.

Bravo! Bravo! Excellent! Putting this one in my files!
Please hurry!!! I can hardly wait to see the finished project
The Venetian mirror is simply splendid, and I know (& so does everyone else) that whatever you do will be absolutely perfect, Trish. Enjoy the project’s work for when it’s done it will have all been so worth it. xx’s
I love all of your ideas–the lanterns are wonderful, but I think I have to side with your husband; not for bumping heads in the bathroom. Are you going to add some gilt wood-just for a bit of whimsy? Can’t wait to see the completed project.
Cant wait to see the finished project. It will be stunning!Love those lanterns.Fiona
This is not an easy task that you have at hand. But, from the glimpses you have shown us, it will be exquisite
when completed. Just remember…breathe. My post this time is also about bathrooms and especially(in my mind)
the French Bateau.
hello dear Trish, I love all your Ideas..colors and know it will be to drool over.. have lot’s of tea on the floor next to the hammer swingers..just watch out for flying objects. My best location when I take decisions..sitting on the floor right there. looks different from there..is that a zen thing?…sitting on the floor?.. xo Colette
Dear Trish, Nothing can go wrong. Not with all of the beautiful elements you have selected.
I say go for the rainfall showerhead from RH Trish, we’re at the tail end of renovating our downstairs bathroom and put one in and love it! Love your idea of hanging the mirror from chains, will you keep it hung in front of the bigger mirror? If you can’t put in a Venetian lantern overhead how about two smaller ones as sconces? I can’t wait to see the finished results looks like it’s going to be stunning!
Hi AO…yes…for now I’ll just hang it in front of the standard issue mirror until I feel compelled to rethink that wall. A few years ago I would have wanted the mirror to go all the way to the top, with side sconces, or two separate mirrors over each sink. But the Venetian mirror was a find that I just stuck there for the time being and grew to love the look.
I love it ALL! Every single detail is over the top. You just have to find a way to get a Venetian Lantern in there. That would be icing on the cake. Are the ceilings tall enough to hang it over the tub? Really love hanging the mirror from the chains in front of the other mirror. We are getting ready to do that for a client. Can hardly wait to see your finished project. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
So the day of wreckening is tomorrow, hey? Hate the demo stage (except when Adam the plumber took out my 5′ cast iron tub with one well-placed blow and that puppy cleaved—cleaved!!!!—in two parts). WOW! Love how your ideas have evolved. And, as always your interest and ability to make practically beautiful solutions. Two peeves we share: tall husbands whose heads get in the way of our decorating schemes. I put a small chandelier in MY bathroom last year and made sure it would clear the 6’5″ head I live with. Well, sweet pea, I forgot about that 38″ arm + finger length= disaster with crystal when the big guy used my shower and stepped out to dry off. Fortunately nothing broke, just came unhinged: me and crystal bits. And TWO: when dreams get whipsawed by budget and space constraints. Eventually, I do think it makes us more creative. It just uses up creative juices that could be spilled in other places. Hope all goes swell. I am so glad you don’t have Carl, my first electrician who, at my request, centered said chandelier “in the space.” And, yes I did mean the space OUTSIDE the shower…alas, that was not Carl’s take. And, yes, it was INSIDE my shower. Sighhhhhhhhh. We should have become electricians and plumbers instead of English majors!
I am loving the palate. Very nice, modern, old, aged and yet sophisticated all in one!
God speed and good luck, must show pics!

You may welcome suggestions, Trish but there’s a reason we all follow you with such loyalty – you’ve a master’s eye. If you were a stock, I’d buy you. Just folloyour gut – it’s awesome.
Oh, I can’t wait to see the finished bathroom. It will look fabulous! Love the venetian mirror. I have an old, big antique one in my foyer. I adore it.
lovely, lovely, lovely
xo
the venetian mirror sends me!
So when it is all done, will you invite us all over for an open house?
If it is timed right, the house will also be decorated for the holidays!
Love, love your exquisite taste!

Admirable! I’m simply choosing new mirrors and light fixtures for my bathroom and am about to go looney with those two decisions alone!
Wishing you the best!
Linsey
BTW, I do like layering mirrors and would do that if I already had a wall of mirror. Especially like your idea of hanging it from chains. And save the lantern for over the tub when you add that someday. Then your husband won’t bump his head. Wink!
I just love your colors, patinas, choice of finishes. It’s going to look fabulous. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Hope the project goes great and no “glitches”!!

Trish,
I know that everything that is going through your hands , will be just gorgeous! I can’t wait to see the final photos!!

What I love about a project like this is that we all know how fabulous this bath would be if you had more room, more $ and more time to throw at it…basically worthy of every top design magazine on the planet… but real talent comes to the surface when you are dealing with constraints and limitations. And when it comes to an eye for design at any price point YOU ROCK and this bath will be amazing once you work your magic! Will trade my “hot tips” for yours any day!!!
~jermaine
Gorgeous! I can’t wait to see what you come up with, with inspiration pics like these!
