always a place for a bit of gold…

Beautiful! Love the way you created that vignette – perfect harmony of colors and textures.

I admit it freely, I have a gilt complex. In my office I have a large mirror I got for a song because it was silver and the finish rather UGLY. I gessoed it, gold leaf it, distressed it. It’s a above a table and acts like a window in the room. It makes me happy in its new gold dress. And it makes me smile because it didn’t cost that much! Love your heart in your flag window treatment.
oh, how I love gilt! I just abhor gold spray paint or acryllic or anything that tries to be gilt or leaf. But the real thing – ooh la la! Nothing is as rich and dramatic and elegant!
Gorgeous photos today.
ah, one of my favorite posts. i LOVE gilt. All of these are beautiful examples.
Gold leaf- Aahhh! Close to my heart.
Your examples are beautiful, Trish. How I would love to own that Italian cartouche fragment!
Nothing like faded gilding to add luster to one’s life!

Oh lord, Trish, where DO you find these delicious images?
Absolutely stunning stuff. xc
I ADORE the gilt detail…
the “uncovered” but perfect chair.. near the detailed bureau -cannot imagine it any other way..
and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your sunburst with the French flag….recently I found my own sunburst clock after many years of searching….I have been moving it around in the house and it is not an easy object to place….you make me think “out of the box”…love your idea..
