Hello Trish
Anything to do with Roses on silk and embroidery captures my heart and sets it soaring to the sky ,,
My mother’s name was Rose, and she did beautiful handiwork, ..lace, needlepoint, embroidery, so when I see such lovely pieces as you shown here it makes my heart sing. The pieces you show are fine examples of exquisite looking antique fabric. And I love those Antique French garden roses…sitting in the limoges Kan Sou creamer. Roses and Cream — how apropos
And of course driving up to that lovely cobbled stone drive to that home flanked by the Roses would be a lovely way to come home to everyday.
You have a beautiful week end — your blog is most precious and so very beautiful, I love visiting time and time again.

what a relaxing five minutes!
I always think of Ikat as being Asian, not French. But that is a beautiful example. It’s so soft and misty looking. Lovely.
That gorgeous silk embroidered fabric is just stunning. I’m amazed they cut the embroidered fabric over the design and then seamed it! We would never do that today! Think of the hours that were wasted when they cut it off to join the two pieces. I hope they used the scraps as cuffs or something elsewhere!
Another delightful post – thanks!
Hi Tristan. It was news to me (French Ikat) as well. And the silk was probably rescued from a chair (?!)…you see more discoloration on one side than the other. I agree…cringe…the cutting through that gorgeous work!! Thank goodness someone saw the beauty in this scrap and didn’t toss it.
Heavenly fabric and roses to match…..xv
Hi Trish,
What a treat to come and visit you today and see all the beauty you have to share ~ merci beaucoup.
The rose makes such a lovely welcoming entrance to the home and I love the wonderful manicured boxhedge and topiares.
The French antique roses, limoges, silk embroidery and the textiles are all so very gorgeous.
I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend
Hugs

Bonjour Trish,
What a marvelous combination – French architecture, roses, embroidery… Just beautiful!
Have a fabulous Sunday,
Mimi
Hi Trish,
Your photos are so good that I almost could feel the fabric! The texture of the thistle, the soft silk and that gorgeous Ikat fabric. Your roses are just stunning. I’m wondering if they are from your garden. Beautifully photographed.
Thank you Delores! Yes, the roses are mine…fresh picked in between the raindrops! I was surprised at what a lovely lustre the embroidered silk still had, and the softness of the Ikat and its linen backing. I’m glad a bit of that came through in the photographs.
I love that house with the roses trailing up and the way you likened the cobble drive to the French Ikat…your eye is so fine tuned. And every time you show your roses, well it makes me wish I could grow such lovely specimens. Have a wonderful week, Trish.
